SUMTER — Multiple people were injured when a child’s birthday party turned into a crime scene this weekend.
Neighbors were celebrating at a mobile home park in Sumter when a shooting broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 1, according to a statement from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.
A dispute between residents of the 4400 block of Broad Street escalated into the shooting, the statement said.
EMS transported two victims to a local hospital. A third victim was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Richland County, according to the sheriff’s office.
All of the victims were adults, a spokesperson confirmed. The sheriff’s office could not provide information about the victims’ conditions.
