CHARLESTON — The past few months have brought James Beard Award finalist Nikko Cagalanan and his wife Paula Kramer just a few fleeting pauses between long days and even longer nights.

Since announcing their restaurant Kultura would move to Rutledge Avenue, they designed the space in just 90 days, adorning the former home of Chasing Sage with nods to Cagalanan’s Filipino roots.

They hired additional team members and introduced new menu items, including crunchy lumpia and a comprehensive cocktail program.

They debuted the second version of Kultura , which for the last two years has operated in a small space on Spring Street, to crowds of diners hungry for Cagalanan’s modern take on food from the country where he spent the first half of his life.
