WEST ASHLEY — Charleston police are investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck on Ashley River Road.
The pedestrian was attempting to cross the roadway around 7 p.m. on Nov. 1 when a Dodge Charger was traveling northbound near Wallace School Road. The driver collided with the person, according to a statement from the department .
The pedestrian died at a local hospital after being transported for treatment by EMS, according to the statement. The coroner’s office has not released the identity of the deceased.
The driver was not injured in the collision. They stopped their vehicle immediately. Police have not filed charges related to the incident.
It’s the fifth fatal collision between pedestrians and vehicles that the Charleston Police Department has investigated so far in 20
