MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A 19-year-old driver accused of being impaired crossed the centerline on NC 801 and slammed head-on into a Mooresville police officer’s patrol car Saturday night, sending both to the hospital, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash happened around 9:38 p.m. on Nov. 1 in Iredell County. A 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Gabriel Matthew Cline, of Mooresville, was traveling north when Cline ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected, and veered into the southbound lane, colliding with the officer’s vehicle.

Cline was taken to a local hospital, where he was evaluated and later cleared.
