We are in for a blustery start to the week, with winds ramping up overnight tonight and into Monday, and scattered rain showers in the forecast.

Southwest winds are expected to increase tonight, gusting at up to 30 mph, or 40 mph if you live along a Great Lakes shoreline. Gale Warnings have been raised for Lake Michigan, Lake Huron and Lake Superior.

Some of the wind gusts on our northernmost Keweenaw Peninsula could hit 50 mph.

How noticeable are those winds? A ship-tracking app shows most of the big freighters crossing Lake Superior today are hugging the coastline.

Showers are expected across the state early Monday, then the skies should dry out by later Monday and into Tuesday before rain is back in the forecast for Wednesday.
