A compact coastal low is spinning up along the coast. Expect rain to fill in after sunset, first along the Crystal Coast/Outer Banks, then spreading west. The heaviest swath favors Down East Carteret and the OBX where 1″+ is likely. Farther inland, totals run a quarter to a half inch.
High pressure takes over Tuesday and drifts offshore Wednesday. We’ll warm a touch midweek with a brief southerly push ahead of a dry cold front late Wednesday night/early Thursday. That front sweeps in cooler, drier air for the back half of the week.
