ORANGE, Connecticut — One person died and four others were injured after a head-on crash on Route 34 near the Merritt Parkway early Sunday morning, according to the Orange Police Department.
At 1:33 a.m., a witness called police to report a dark Honda Civic driving westbound in the eastbound lanes near the Merritt Parkway. The Civic then collided head-on with a 2024 BMW X1 near Baldwin Road.
According to police, the driver of the Honda Civic was trapped in the car and had to be freed by firefighters. He was rushed to the hospital but later died from his injuries. His identity is being withheld until family is notified.
The BMW had four occupants and all were taken to Yale with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
