The Portage Youth Hub experienced its highest quarter on record this summer, reporting more than 2,200 youth connections as extended drop-in hours and targeted programming drew in young people following the conclusion of the school year.
Mitch Tilk, Coordinator for the PCRC Local Immigration Partnership, presented the Youth Hub’s quarterly report to Portage la Prairie City Council last month, detailing the rapid growth since the facility launched in late 2024 at 1200 Saskatchewan Ave West.
The report emphasized the summer period provided staff with enhanced opportunities to build rapport, engage in meaningful discussions, and support youth ages 15 to 29 in accessing appropriate community services.
Tilk acknowledged the success while sharing details with council on Oct. 27.
