College football is a wild animal, isn't it? Saturday felt like it had a March Madness flavor in the beginning of November. Several top 25 teams faced defeat on Saturday, including No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Vanderbilt, and No. 10 Miami. Perhaps this will be a precursor for the CFP run and the actual run to March Madness in college basketball.

Not everyone had to deal with the upsets; others, like Ohio State and Indiana, just kept on with their winning ways. Other teams just can't get out of their own way, and that usually comes at a price, as Hugh Freeze found out. With the calendar turning to November and our clocks moving back, we review the week that was with what we learned in week 10 of the college football season.

No teams are more dominant than the Ohio State Buckeyes and Indiana Hoosiers

The two best football teams in the country reside in the Big Ten. On Saturday, both squads showed their dominance on the field. After a close first half, the Ohio State Buckeyes ran away with the victory over the Penn State Nittany Lions. It was the ninth straight win for Ohio State in the series. Overall, it is a series that has leaned the Buckeyes' way since 2000.

Curt Cignetti showed why he was held in such high regard by the Hoosiers after Indiana blasted another Big Ten foe on Saturday. IU has outscored the opposition 111-16 over the last two games. Since the 30-20 win over Oregon, the Hoosiers have won three straight games by a combined 149-29 margin. The Big Ten title game could be a preview of the CFP national championship game, the way these two are playing.

The Texas Longhorns are back in the playoff hunt

After back-to-back overtime scares against Mississippi State and Kentucky, the Longhorns knocked off then-ranked No.. 9 Vanderbilt on Saturday. The game shouldn't have been as close as it ended up in the 34-31 win. Texas raced out to a 34-10 lead heading into the fourth quarter before the Commodores made it a three-point game with under a minute left to go. It was a failed onside kick attempt that gave the Longhorns the win.

With a record of 7-2 overall and 4-1 in conference, the Texas Longhorns are back firmly in the thick of the College Football Playoff chase. They currently hold victories against the No. 12-ranked Oklahoma Sooners and No. 16-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores. The Longhorns can all but lock up a CFP berth with a win at No. 5 Georgia in two weeks. The Bulldogs will be ready for a fight in Athens.

College GameDay will feature a Big 12 clash for the second consecutive week

College GameDay was on location in Salt Lake City for the Utah Utes vs the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday. Following the victory over the Kansas State Wildcats for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, the Big 12 will play host to ESPN's pregame show and crew for a second straight week. This time, they will be in town to discuss the No. 8 BYU Cougars coming to Lubbock to face the No. 9 Texas Tech Red Raiders in a top-10 showdown to determine who is the best in the Big 12.

This is only the second time that GameDay will come to the Hub City. The last time featured the No. 1 Texas Longhorns coming to town for a Halloween weekend showdown with the Pirate Mike Leach and the No. 10 Texas Tech Red Raiders in 2008. Can Tech create another epic moment like Graham Harrell to Michael Crabtree in the final seconds to secure a top 10 win?

Auburn moves on from Hugh Freeze

Another Sunday arrived, and another head coach was relieved of their duties. We return to the SEC, where the Auburn Tigers finally pulled the plug on the Hugh Freeze experiment on the Plains. After a pathetic offensive showing in the 10-3 loss to Kentucky, the brass had seen enough to justify making a head coaching change for the fourth time in seven years. With another SEC program opening up, it's starting to get crowded on the coaching carousel.

It feels like the right move for the program, despite the market becoming crowded due to the Tigers' poor on-field performances. There is no time for more excuse-filled press conferences as we witnessed for the last two-plus seasons. The time is now to find the next head coach who will shout the Auburn battle cry, War Eagle, on the sidelines in a new era for the school.

Colorado needs major changes after another non-competitive blowout loss

It wasn't that long ago that the Colorado Buffaloes upset the Iowa State Cyclones in Boulder. Since that moment, the Buffs have lost two games by a combined 105-24 margin. In neither game was CU even remotely competitive, given that they were outscored 81-7 in the first half of both games. It isn't good for Coach Prime and the Buffs.

Colorado currently has the second-worst offense in the Big 12 and the No. 110 scoring offense in the country this season at 22 points per game. The Buffs also own the No. 14 scoring defense in the Big 12 and No. 107 scoring defense in the country at 30.1 points per game. That is tied with Stanford. Sanders will likely need to make wholesale changes to the staff in the coming weeks or after the season.

Mario Cristobal falls flat, leaving Miami's CFP hopes up in the air

At this point, it feels like a rite of passage to fall apart in the month of November for Mario Cristobal at Miami. In 2024, an undefeated Hurricanes team looking to lock down a spot in the College Football Playoff fell to Georgia Tech and Syracuse to ruin any shot at the ACC title and CFP berth. It appears that his November struggles have reared its ugly head again.

Miami went into Dallas as heavy favorites against the SMU Mustangs but didn't leave victorious. Despite the believed edge the Cane had, the Ponies were up to playing spoiler with the 26-20 overtime win. Cristobal needs to get back on the path over the next four games to earn a shot at the ACC title. Currently, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Virginia Cavaliers sit at the top of the conference.
