Now do it again. That is what the best defenses do. They do it again. And again. And again. And again. This was more like a first laugh than a last laugh for a Steelers defense that promised it would be historically great this season.
But for a few hours, anyway, it absolutely deserves to bask in the glow of a destructive, 27-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. This was vintage stuff, about as good as any regular season performance this defense has delivered under coach Mike Tomlin.
That final score was totally misleading. It felt more like 27-7.
It wasn’t just the NFL’s top-ranked offense that was left in tatters. It was a unit drawing comparisons to “The Greatest Show on Turf” and putting up similar numbers.
