WASHINGTON, DC

The White House is fuming this week after the government of Ontario used the image of beloved character Alex P. Keaton to promote an anti-tariff message.

“Tariffs are a longstanding American value,” said a White House message. “For the Canadians to misuse a beloved American icon like Alex P. Keaton for their own nefarious purposes is simply unacceptable.”

The White House claims the clip from was altered to make it look like Alex P. Keaton opposed tariffs, when, in fact, he actually loved them.

“As we all know, Alex was a staunch opponent of the free market,” said the White House. “Oh, sure, you can splice together some comments that make it look like he wasn’t, but we know the truth.”
