CHRISTIANSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Alzheimer’s isn’t just a disease that affects millions across America, it’s one that touches families and friends in hometowns across Southwest Virginia.
That’s why hundreds of people gathered in Christiansburg on Sunday for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s, joining together to raise awareness, support, and funds for those impacted by the disease.
Participants filled Huckleberry Park for the event, hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association, which aims to raise money for care, research, and community programs. The New River Valley walk set a fundraising goal of $75,000.
Each flower in the Promise Garden represented a personal connection to Alzheimer’s — a loved one living with the disease, a caregiver, or someone walking in remembrance.
