A “foolish” Middlesbrough drug dealer was caught with £80,000 worth of drugs and a safe in his car. Nathan Pickard was working off a £25,000 cocaine debt after becoming addicted to the class A drug, Teesside Crown Court heard.

The 32-year-old was stopped for the second time in the space of a month when police seized £52,000 worth of cocaine, £28,000 worth of crack cocaine and Nokia phones showing messages advertising “prices, amounts and availability". Pickard appeared at Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday for sentencing via video link from HMP Holme House wearing a grey jumper.

Nigel Soppitt, prosecuting, outlined that Pickard was stopped by police officers, who were on mobile patrol in the Flatts Lane area of Ormesby , at 8.45pm on May 24. Pickard was driving a Seat Ibiza which was
