CLEVELAND — A man was taken to a Cleveland hospital Sunday afternoon after being shot aboard a Red Line rapid train, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority said.
According to an GCRTA spokesperson, the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on a train heading westbound near the E. 79 station on East 79th Street. One man was shot in the shoulder after he got into an "altercation" with another man on the train, the RTA said.
The man who was shot was "conscious and alert," and was taken to University Hospital by Cleveland EMS. His current condition is unknown.
The GCRTA Transit Police Department responded to the shooting and is handling the investigation.
The RTA did not say whether anyone was charged in the incident.
