While U18 has always served as a marquee division for the Big Nickel Major AAA Hockey Tournament, athletes in that category will have the spotlight all to themselves in 2025.
No fewer than 34 teams will compete for U18 gold, the sole championship to be contested at the 45th edition of the fall classic, to begin this coming Thursday at venues across the city. That’s up from 26 entries in 2024.
“Out of the top 10 teams in Ontario right now at U18, nine are coming,” tournament chair Barry McCrory told The Sudbury Star. “Teams look for that, because they want good competition.”
