Flags’ MacDonald scores in overtime
Owen MacDonald’s goal 25 seconds into overtime capped the Mooretown Flags’ unlikely comeback Saturday for a 6-5 win over the Amherstburg Admirals.
The Flags trailed 5-2 until Landon Marcy scored with 3:45 left in the third period. Caleb Rosseel tallied seven seconds later and then Marcy scored again with 1:41 to go in front of 113 fans at the Mooretown Sports Complex.
Rosseel finished with two goals, Lucas Ross scored one and winning goalie Paxton Burnie stopped 18 of 19 shots after relieving Ethan Dunbar, who gave up four goals on 24 shots.
The Flags (8-7-0-0) host the Wheatley Sharks Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Provincial Junior Hockey League’s Stobbs Division.
