TEXARKANA, Texas — An old Texarkana landmark is helping to bring new life downtown.

Built in 1924, the Perot Theatre is now the centerpiece of Texarkana’s downtown comeback.

The city’s historic district commission just approved new upgrades for the theater, including a patio for the Eagle Wine and Bourbon bar next door.

The Perot Theatre has hosted many things, including movies, concerts, and community shows for decades.

The theatre was restored in the late 70’s with help form the “H” Ross Perot’s foundation and now serves as a key part of the city’s revitalization plan.

A recent sold-out Elvis and friends show, and a new $68,000 repair grant are signs of that momentum.

City leaders say these small steps are adding up, and downtown Texarkana is starting to shine again.
