ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
Based on how the police categorize crimes, there have been 32% fewer homicides through October compared with the same time period in 2024, an Albuquerque Police Department news release said.
Between January and October of this year, police say there have been 58 of what they call "non-negligent" murders, compared to 85 murders from January through October in 2024. APD homicide detectives have solved 84% of this year's cases, and also solved 25 previous cases from previous years, the release said.
All in all, 114 murder suspects were arrested, charged or died this year. The combination of solved cases this year with the 25 solved cases from previous years adds up to a 132% clearance rate in APD homicide cases in 2025 so far, the release said.
