NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A man has died after he crashed into a telephone pole Sunday afternoon, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The crash happened on 4th Avenue South at Rains Avenue at 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

MNPD reports that a Nissan Altima was traveling south on 4th Avenue South when he left the road and hit a telephone pole. The driver, 35-year-old Jared Sherrell of Nashville, was killed in the crash.

Sherrell was reportedly weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed before the crash.

MNPD said there was no evidence of impairment at the scene.
