HONOLULU (Island News) -- Costumes… candy… and cocktails. Three ingredients that some brew together for a Halloween night.

Selena-Romana Aina, Charley's Taxi's lead dispatcher, said, "Especially during the holidays, a lot of people like to have fun. They like to go drink, they like to party."

But that fun can quickly turn into fright very fast.

With Halloween hotspots like Waikiki and Chinatown, HPD is being proactive to keep the areas secure.

Henry Roberts, District I acting major, said, "There should be an increased presence of officers in patrol vehicles, bicycles, on foot, even our ATVs will be out there managing crowds or just trying to keep everybody safe to enjoy the festivities that go on on Halloween."

Police said the key is to plan ahead.
