HONOLULU (Island News) -- Federal food stamp benefits are scheduled to come to an end at midnight.

But two federal judges are ordering the Trump administration to push funds through. In response, the president's directing federal lawyers to find a way to get that money out to millions of people across the country.

"There's a number of layers of uncertainty and I think what worries me is that you know uncertainty doesn't feed people," said Amanda Shaw, director of food systems at Agriculture Stewardship Hawaii .

With more than 165,000 people in Hawaii set to lose their SNAP benefits at midnight, and federal leaders going back and forth over emergency funding, there will certainly be delays in benefits.
