There are two likely scenarios for Ohio’s 2026 gubernatorial election: Democrat Amy Acton vs. Republican Vivek Ramaswamy, or former U.S. Representative Tim Ryan as the Democratic nominee. Ryan is better known than political newcomer Acton, so a look at Acton vs. Ramaswamy offers an important view into the current state of politics in Ohio.

The BGSU Democracy and Public Policy Network conducted a web-based poll of 800 registered Ohio voters from Oct. 2 to Oct. 14.

The overall results of the poll have a margin of error of ±4.5 percentage points, and the data is weighted in a way that results in a +10 Trump margin from the 2024 presidential race.
