BOWLING GREEN — JobsOhio has awarded SmartSolve Industries a $1 million research and development grant.

The grant will support the expansion of a new Research & Development Center for the northwest Ohio zero-waste packaging technology company, furthering its innovation of alternative packaging.

“The purpose of the new R&D Center is to commercialize new and innovative zero-waste packaging technologies,” Jonathan Jakubowski, CEO of SmartSolve, said in a news release. “This project positions SmartSolve as a global innovator and leading provider of microplastic-free packaging technologies that address one of the world’s most pressing environmental and health challenges.”

The grant will go toward a $3.6 million investment and is expected to create at least 30 new jobs over the next five year
