HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- Following a controversial 9-8 loss from the Fairfield Mules in the opening round of the IHSA playoffs, IHSA Executive Directory Craig Anderson said in a statement they don't, "have the ability to alter the outcome of a contest that has been determined on the field."
Fairfield held a 8-6 lead in the closing moments of a playoff game against the PORTA Blue Jays. According to Anderson, on the last drive of the game for the Blue Jays, "an error was made by the officiating crew, which resulted in PORTA receiving an extra down."
The Blue Jays used that extra down to kick a game-winning field goal as time expired to come away with a 9-8 victory.
