Last month, the Pune rural police arrested two men for allegedly extorting gold worth Rs 3.5 lakh from a 14-year-old boy addicted to online gaming. In the wake of this incident, the police have appealed to parents to be cautious and aware of the usage of cell phones by children, so as to prevent them from becoming addicted to online games.
The police found that the school student from Koregaon Bhima village got addicted to online games while doing some online school studies on his mobile phone. The police said the accused communicated with him on Instagram when he tried to obtain an ID for the ‘Free Fire’ online game.
