CONCORD, N.H. —

Even as the White House pushes for mid-decade congressional redistricting in red states, those efforts appear to be losing momentum in New Hampshire.

One key Republican in Concord is saying there is no point in taking action when the governor is not on board with the idea.

"In this heated environment, I don't want to take on this battle unless the path is clear," said state Rep. Ross Berry, R-Weare.

Berry, mapmaker-in-chief of New Hampshire House Republicans, said he would love to bring back his Interstate 93 corridor re-draw of the First and Second Congressional Districts, but he said Gov. Kelly Ayotte's opposition to revisiting the issue and the state Senate's recent withdrawal of a redistricting bill for next year are making any changes unlikely.
