In a major political setback for Biju Janata Dal (BJD), former Rajya Sabha MP Amar Patnaik joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Monday.

Patnaik formally joined the saffron party at the BJP state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi welcomed him into the party by presenting a bouquet. State party president Manmohan Samal and in-charge Vijaypal Singh Tomar were also present at the induction ceremony.
