A ‘heroic’ rail worker who tried to stop a knife attacker as he carried out the Huntingdon train knife attack is now in a ‘stable’ condition.

The attack on Saturday evening saw a knifeman on a London-bound train go on a stabbing rampage, injuring 11 people.

The Doncaster to London King’s Cross train was forced to make an emergency stop in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire.

This was thanks to London North Eastern Railway (LNER) worker Andrew Johnson, who contacted the control room to get the train diverted from the fast track to the slow track. But he was among the people critically injured in the attack and remained in life-threatening condition in the early hours today.
