Calling it a ‘typographical error’, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has clarified that the use of virtual calculators in the JEE Main sessions 2026 is prohibited.
NTA, while releasing the JEE Main 2026 information brochure on October 31, said that it would be providing an onscreen standard calculator throughout the computer-based test (CBT). Candidates, NTA said, could use this basic calculator online for math with addition, subtraction, division and multiplication. The calculator, as per the NTA, also included functions for square root, percentage, etc.
However, in its recent notice, the Agency stated that the calculator feature is a part of the ‘generic test’ conducting platform and does not apply to the JEE Main 2026 exam, as the use of calculators in any form is not permitted in
