The leader of Spain's Valencia region, Carlos Mazon, is resigning over his administration's handling of last year's catastrophic floods.
The flash floods hit Spain's south-eastern regions on October 29, 2024, killing 229 people and causing billions of euros in damages.
The suburbs south of Valencia were worst affected, with a year's worth of rain landing in just eight hours.
Residents of the affected areas accuse the regional government of issuing an alert too late after buildings were already under water and many people were drowning.
Since the floods, Mr Mazon has faced daily calls for his resignation, including from victims' relatives, since the flooding.
