Harmanpreet Kaur has revealed how the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)’s late decision to change the venue of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 final sparked a message spree in the team’s groups that helped their spirits and motivated them to go for the trophy with a renewed belief.
Initially, Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium was supposed to host the final. However, after the stampede outside the ground in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)’s victory parade post the IPL 2025 season, independent investigations declared it unsafe for large gatherings. The BCCI shifted it to Navi Mumbai, to the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy — which would see them beat South Africa by 52 runs to clinch the country’s maiden Women’s World Cup title.
