Cooking icon Prue Leith fears she might get dementia as she admits she is getting more forgetful as she gets older.

The Great British Bake Off star turned 85 earlier this year and has often spoken candidly about her own mortality.

Prue said that her mum, the South African actress Margaret Inglis, had dementia for the last 15 years of her life before she died in 2010. Prue admitted she is concerned about suffering a similar fate.

The TV star told The Times: "I definitely am getting more forgetful. I mean, I don't think I've got dementia, but I might (in the future).

"I'm no good at names. I think I'm too selfish or something to bother to remember them. And that's often embarrassing. I mean, I've forgotten yours already."
