A driver who killed a woman and drove into others in a number of collisions in Rochdale has pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

Keith Knight, 49, was initially charged with the murder of 68-year-old Irina Artemeva and the attempted murder of six others.

Emergency services were called at 2.30pm on Saturday, May 3, to reports of a woman with a child in a pram, along with two other people, who had been hit by a car on Bury Road, near to the junction of Woodgate Avenue, Greater Manchester Police said.

A short time later, police received further reports of a woman, 68, who had been struck by a car on Whitworth Road, near to Rochdale town centre, the force said.
