AUBURN, Al. (WLBT) - Auburn has fired Hugh Freeze just one day after a 10-3 loss to Kentucky, athletic director John Cohen announced on Sunday.

Freeze boasted a 15-19 record and a 6-16 conference record in his two-plus seasons at the university.

The former Ole Miss head coach is now the eighth Power Four coach to get fired this season.

The Tigers will owe Freeze $15.8 million in buyout money.

Defensive coordinator D.J. Durkin will serve as the interim head coach for the Tigers.
