A speeding dumper truck ploughed through a line of vehicles on Monday, leaving 12 people dead and several critically injured, in Jaipur’s busy Harmada area.

District Collector Jitendra Soni confirmed the death toll and said the injured had been rushed to nearby hospitals, with several in critical condition admitted to the SMS Hospital’s trauma centre. “The dumper hit several vehicles in a chain collision near Loha Mandi. Twelve people died in the accident and as many have been injured,” Soni told PTI .

The official said the dumper, empty at the time of the crash, came from Road No. 14 towards the Loha Mandi petrol pump and began hitting vehicles one after another over a stretch of nearly 300 metres.
