After nearly 50 years as a Cambridge resident, including 40 years serving the Cambridge community as a social worker specializing in mental health, I never imagined I would find myself opposing a measure that purports to expand affordable housing in the city. The recent multi-family ordinance was a well-intentioned step towards addressing our affordable housing shortage. But I now have a front row seat to its unintended consequences, and it is deeply disturbing.
