Diver Maddison Keeney has been named West Australian Institute of Sport Able Athlete of the Year.
And Paralympic medallist Chad Perris has taken out the WAIS Para Athlete of the Year, an award that recognises his world-class performances and enduring influence on and off the track.
Keeney secured the women’s one-metre springboard gold medal at this year’s world championships in Singapore, while finishing inside the top six in three other events.
A silver medallist at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Keeney nailed her hardest dive of the contest, a forward two-and-a-half with one twist, in the final round.
It was her first individual gold medal since 2017.
By beating 2022 world champion Li Yajie by 17,75 points, Keeney ended China’s quest for gold in all 13 diving events.
