CLEVELAND — Bobby George, who is well known for his ownership of area restaurants, including TownHall in Cleveland , received his sentence Monday after changing his plea to guilty on a charge of attempted strangulation.
George was sentenced to five years of probation by Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Joy Kennedy based on an agreement made by prosecutors and his defense team. The attempted strangulation charge is a felony in the fifth degree, meaning George could have faced punishment of up to a year in prison.
"If there had not been a joint recommendation of probation that the victim agreed on, I may have sent you to prison," Kennedy told George. "Do you understand that?"
"I do," George responded.
