A young family south of Brisbane has been left traumatised after an armed man allegedly broke into their house twice in the same night.

The couple, who had only just moved into the Logan home with their five-month-old baby over the weekend, said it was a terrifying case of mistaken identity.

The young mother and father were too traumatised to be identified but spoke to 9News about what allegedly happened last night.

"I thought this front door was locked that we have but it wasn't because it doesn't lock properly," the father said.

"Someone basically said, 'Oi', and the next thing a man walked in with what appeared to be a rifle."

The couple yelled out that they had a baby inside and the man eventually left about 10.10pm.
