The Supreme Court on Monday heard the case of increasing pollution in Delhi-NCR. The Court has directed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to file an affidavit. A bench of Chief Justice BR Gavai and Justice K. Vinod Chandran was hearing the M.C. Mehta case.

Senior Advocate and amicus curiae Aparajita Singh informed the Court that on Diwali day, only 9 out of 37 air quality monitoring stations were continuously operational. She said-

If monitoring stations do not work, how will it be known when to implement the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)? CAQM should be directed to present clear data and an action plan.
