PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- SEPTA is expanding its red bus lanes to three new parts of Philadelphia, the agency announced on Monday.
The agency will add lanes to corridors in Center City and South Philadelphia on sections of Chestnut Street, Walnut Street and Oregon Avenue.
These were identified as "Tier 1" priority corridors in the city's 2021 Transit Plan.
The lanes will be along Chestnut Street between Broad and 21st, Walnut between Broad and 19th, and Oregon between 5th and Front streets.
In May, the Philadelphia Parking Authority began issuing tickets to drivers for illegally parking or stopping in bus lanes. Some SEPTA buses and trolleys are also equipped with cameras and artificial technology.
Tickets cost $76 in Center City and $51 everywhere else.
