ELIZABETH CITY, N.C., (WAVY)-- A death investigation is under after a missing woman was found dead in Elizabeth City Saturday night.

According to police, officers responded to a missing person call in the 1800 block of Weeksville Road just before 11 p.m. When officers arrived on scene, they spoke with the caller and began investigating.

Officers located 77-year-old Clydie Spence in the area of Weeksville Road and Industrial Park. Officers performed life-saving measures until EMS arrived.

Spence was transported to Sentara Albemarle Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
