LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - ESPN’s College GameDay will return to Lubbock for Texas Tech’s game against BYU next Saturday.

ESPN announced the popular pregame show will air from the Texas Tech campus Saturday. It marks only the second time College GameDay has come to Lubbock, with the first broadcast occurring 17 years ago when the Red Raiders faced the Texas Longhorns.

The announcement is expected to bring fans to the city and might attract notable alumni back to campus.

“It’s so special to have college gameday because you know it’s one of those deals, it really is a dream as a player to be a part of that,” said Joey McGuire, Texas Tech head football coach.

When asked about Patrick Mahomes potentially attending, McGuire said he would reach out to the former Red Raider quarterback.
