EAGLE BUTTE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Law Enforcement is investigating a death that occurred in the early morning hours of Nov. 2.

At approximately 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, emergency personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive female at the City Park in Eagle Butte.

First responders found a 16-year-old female and immediately attempted life-saving measures, but the girl could not be revived.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement says there is no indication of any threat to the public, and the circumstances remain under investigation.

The 16-year-old’s name has not been released at this time pending notification of family members and friends.
