COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - On Saturday, SNAP benefits are expected to run out due to the ongoing federal government shutdown. Governor Polis says nearly 600,000 Coloradans rely on SNAP. One Southern Colorado food pantry told 11 News that they’re expecting even more individuals and families to utilize their pantry in the following weeks, especially with the holidays around the corner.
“People are even growing a little bit upset because we had people come in, they come in too late, we can’t see them, we’re filled up, we don’t have the amount of food to give people,” Mercy’s Gate Ministries Executive Director, John Serio, explained. “So, people are noticing right now there’s a tension that has arisen.
