Reports of needles found in Halloween candy in Kentucky from Oct. 31-Nov. 2 prompted state law enforcement agencies to post social media messages requesting parents inspect their children's treats before allowing them to enjoy them.

The tampered candy reports first appeared on Halloween night, when officials with the Madison County Sheriff's Office said they found two needles inside Twizzlers at a Richmond home.

"According to the complainant, they had been trick-or-treating in the area off Highway 1016 in Berea," the post read. "Upon returning home and inspecting the candy, they discovered needles inside a package of Twizzlers."
