The Dallas Cowboys were pegged as a top landing spot for Miami Dolphins edge-rusher Jaelan Phillips, a productive outside linebacker who could have given their defense a much-needed boost.
But the Cowboys will instead have to watch Phillips from the opposite sideline after the rival Philadelphia Eagles landed him in a deal one day before the NFL 's trade deadline.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported early on Monday that the Eagles landed Phillips for a Day 2 draft pick. He's the latest defensive addition for the reigning Super Bowl champions, who also acquired cornerbacks Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens and Michael Carter II from the New York Jets last week.
