LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) -- The lengthy shutdown has hit a new milestone, as Federal SNAP food benefits are due to go out on Saturday to nearly 42 million people.
Officials warned those benefits would not be sent last week, but on Friday, two Federal judges ruled SNAP funding must continue.
Reloading benefit cards can take one to two weeks and it is currently unclear if appeals will further delay the process.
Many organizations are currently helping out SNAP recipients, including the non-profit Ready for Life, which focuses on helping young adults who have aged out of foster care.
