For the fourth consecutive season, the Canyon boys cross country team left Round Rock with a Class 4A state championship.

The Eagles won their eighth UIL cross country title on Saturday, Nov. 1, behind a strong performance from the team of Domenic San Miguel, Noah Cooper, Grady Simmons, Jamison Kirton, Ethan Labue, Aidon Tijerina and Joel Moore.

Wes Kirton's group scored 48 points, beating out runner-up Big Spring, who finished with 108 points.

San Miguel won the race with a time of 15 minutes, 8.2 seconds to edge out La Feria's Armando Morales. Cooper finished in 15:13.3, good enough for third-place.

Perryton's Jacob Erickson placed fourth in the Class 4A boys race, leading the Rangers to a sixth-place finish in the event's team standings.
