Shillong, Nov 3: The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) strongly opposed the state government’s decision to terminate the services of adhoc employees appointed against sanctioned posts after 2007.
In a letter to Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma, VPP president Ardent M Basaiawmoit expressed concern over the government’s Office Memorandum dated September 25, 2025, stating that it fails to appreciate the complexity of administrative efficiency and employees’ rights.
The VPP argued that adhoc employees appointed after December 31, 2007, have served continuously for over a decade, enabling the government to run its administration. The party stated that it is highly objectionable to terminate these employees and ask them to reappear for competitive examinations, as it was not their fault
